November 2023 Tasting Notes

November 2023 Tasting Notes

This month, I bring you the anti-Thanksgiving Thanksgiving wine box! This means absolutely no Chardonnay (we already know it pairs with turkey and stuffing), and no basic whites that go with your big holiday dinner. Instead, I present to you three different, yet delicious, reds and one sparkling wine - all tailored to be shared at the table with friends and family or hoarded and kept all to yourself.
The Walls Wonderful Nightmare Tempranillo, Walla Walla Valley, 2020
Dry, medium-full body, medium acidity, velvet tannins. Notes of Leather, tobacco, earth, red fruit, herbs, salinity. Pairs well with peppered meats, wild game, and hard cheeses.
Exclusively paired with this month's feature recipe Pan Seared Venison Medallions. Find your recipe here
Forager Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, 2020
Dry, light body, medium acidity, smooth tannin. Notes of raspberry, anise, tart berry and a touch of rhubarb. Pair with smoked or roasted meats, sharp cheeses.
David Finlayson Pepper Pot, Red Blend, South Africa 2020
A blend of Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Tannat.
Dry, deep purple in color, full body, medium acidity, medium tannin. Notes of black pepper, dark mulberry, spices, vanilla, leather. Pairs well with grilled red meat.
Lapierre Cremant Bourgogne Reserve NV, Burgundy France
A sparkling blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Gamay, Aligoté. Cremant is a term used to describe sparkling wine made in the Traditional Method that comes from any region in France other than Champagne. In this case, it's from Burgundy.
Bright, crisp with a clean finish. Notes of citrus, green apple, elderflower and peach. Pairs well with fruit, crostini, and soft cheeses.
